Whisky of the week

A whisky tasting session at the Prince this week led to some contrasting opinions. I’d love to give you some of my own thoughts on the matter but unfortunately I was a little over enthusiastic for the tasting aspect and my memory as to which I preferred has escaped me! Luckily there were five other aficionados on hand to share their views.

Olly plumped for the Dalwhinnie, describing it as “…mouth warming, quite rich and with a delicate note.” Peter on the other hand preferred the smoothness of the Dalmore, adding it was the perfect accompaniment to a cigar. In terms of picking a favourite for the week however, it would have to be the Lagavulin, storming home with three votes. According to Rob, it was “…not too intense for an Islay, but has all the smoky notes”, whilst Conor agreed, enjoying the “soft smoky flavour.” Final word on the matter went to Keith, who noted the marked improvement of the distiller’s edition compared to previous experiences with Lagavulin.

At the Prince we keep approximately 40 single malts stocked, so be sure to try some next time you are in.
